Datasheet Description:

About 7 miles east of Tucson on the property of the Magnetic Observatory Station of the U. S. Coast and Geodetic Survey, west of the buildings, along the north and south fence on the west side of the observatory grounds. Marked by standard bronze disks.

Reference mark NO. 1, a standard bronze reference disk is 23.415 meters (76. 82 feet) from station S 00 deg 24 min E.

Reference mark NO. 2, a standard bronze reference disk, is 26.470 meters (86.84 feet) from station S 88 deg 41 min W.

Reference mark A, a standard disk stamped magnetic RM A 1970, set in the top of a 12-inch round concrete monument that projects 1 inch. It is 81 feet east of a powr pole.

The azimuth mark, a standard bronze disk is 300 yards from station S 88 deg 40 min 49 sec W station mark, reference mark NO. 3, and the azimuth mark were placed in line for the convenience of the magnetic observatory.


"MAGNETIC AZIMUTH NO: 3" is a benchmark monumented by the USC&GS in 1935 located in Pima County, Arizona. It is a deticated azimuth mark for MAGNETIC, which has been destroyed.

The benchmark was named after the Magnetic Observatory that was at the benchmark's location. It has since been demolished but the azimuth mark remains.

"MAGNETIC AZIMUTH NO: 3" was located approximately 678.442 feet or 206.789 meters 272 degrees from where MAGNETIC RM A was. It is set in a concrete monument.
